What Impact has Summit had on your life?
I’ll say this - I remember sitting with Shane at a taco joint, drinking margaritas. He was there to try to “recruit” me…… all the while I was fan girling him - I just felt so honored to be included and that I got a chance to be a part of something like Summit.
I felt like I got to be a cool kid - and I’m hopeful that throughout my time in Summit whether it was in leadership, or on Blue, Gold, Black, Orange, Meat, Pride, White, Mountain Tops or as a supporter of any of the other teams I helped make other people feel special and important and included.
What is one of your favorite memories related to Summit?
Winning Gay bowl is probably the east answer. Hearing Shane on the side line say “Oh God” when I threw a ball straight up in the air - it of course was intercepted.
Denver hosting the Gay bowl the first time, and Denver making it to the A division for the first time that year was amazing.
In Philly feeling like it was us against the world in the rain and the cold was memorable.
New York was so much fun!!
Sooooo many trips to Chicago!
And I will always being part of The Meat.
Ultimately I think my most memorable moment is watching Jon Bryson run the ball in on a two point conversion and Denver coming out of nowhere to win Pride Bowl. Before that game Denver was always known as a fun team but we were a team that struggled to win games and beyond just fun, we didn’t have any identity. That is the day the Denver Summit showed we were ready to take the next step.
Message for future summit players:
Being a part of this is something really special. There’s a Denver way - be proud that you have this opportunity, give it your all, play for each other, enjoy every moment.
